Ah...don't you just love it when you go to a restaurant and they give you paper tablecloth and crayons to doodle while you wait for your food and converse?  ...it's the best!

Ah….it's me again here to give you some insight to more things artsy that I enjoy.
Ready!?...
Retro & Vintage Design - although compared to modern design, retro is mostly a completely different realm, it has a large variety of benefits that modern graphic designers often tend to overlook. Nostalgic designs bring about feelings, awake memories and are just a great piece of work to look at. More so, retro/vintage designs can look cool and offer readers/viewers or visitors something they haven’t expected at all. So take a trip down memory lane and check out some of the nifty links to retro and vintage designs that modern designers have created.

Where to begin…I've been fascinated by art for as long as I can remember and I love doodling when I get the chance. Anything arts and crafts or just plain creative catches my attention. I suppose I should start off by introducing myself…I'm Cristina Munoz…and I can't seem to pinpoint one thing to write about for this creative update because there are so many things that I like that it's difficult to write about just one. So, I will attempt to do my best and share something with you.

Two illustrators that I've loved through the years and continue to have admiration for are J.Otto Seibold and Shag (Josh Agle). Their illustrations are just amazing to me.  Each artist is different of course, yet both are so simplistic and whimsical.

Shag (Josh Agle), I've loved his work for years and continue to do so. I have some of his work at home and can't wait to get more - I just need to figure out where to put them. His illustrations can be a bit dark but as a whole very entertaining. His work is this colorful jet-set/mid-century modern/tiki themed art that is just so fun and amusing. Check out his work at http:// www.shag.com and see for yourself. You might want to check out his merchandise and purchase something in the process. :)

Another illustrator I have to mention is J.Otto Seibold. His illustrations are full of so much color AND they are graphically and dynamically very cool - in my opinion. In his books, everything seems to work perfectly, the distorted characters, the text - minimized and composed by extravagant fonts alongside with the illustrations. It's the balance of all the elements that make his books a piece of work. Check out his website at http://www.jottodotcom.com/ - keep in mind his website is not as visually appealing as shag's but you can view some of the character's from his books here.

Enjoy!
